茶道修行のこと　

On Teaism Training 

 

　本来、茶道に拘わらず全ての道において初伝であるとか奥伝であるとかという違いはあるものではない。

​

然るに中伝、奥伝、皆伝等の区別を以って伝授せしめんとするは、ただ真実を伝えんとする方便の故を以ってである。

​

​

奥伝のこと、といっても殊更のものではないのであるが、

 

初門の者にあっては修業の浅い故に、取り違え勘違いを起こすことが古来より多しとされ、その本質を見失う事を恐れるのである。

​

富士の峰の上が尊いか、下が尊いかを言うことはできないが頂きの秀麗なる姿をもって人はこれを富士とみる。

​

正しく道を志す者の頂きへ導かんのするのが伝授する者の役割であるとすれば、奥伝を以って頂きを指し示すのは方便の至極である

 

と言える。　

​

初伝まではいわば義務教育の部分で、中伝は高等学校、奥伝は大学で、皆伝は大学院のようなものである。

​

但し、当流は風炉を主とした薄茶点前の流儀なのであるから「初伝」「中伝」「奥伝」とはいっても学ぶ事は同じである。

​

腕前に応じて（磨きのかかり具合によって）三段階に分けたにすぎない。

 

当流の元々の考え方は濃茶は好ましくない。薄茶点前を中心とする。その薄茶点前も風炉を主として行う。

 

現代は炉を切ってある住宅は殆どないからである。

​

免許取得者は以上の主旨にのっとった当流の茶道をマスターした事になる。

Originally, in all paths—not just teaism—there is no inherent distinction between the initial teachings or the profound teachings.

Nevertheless, the distinction between intermediate, profound, and complete transmission exists solely as a means to convey the truth.

​

The so-called "advanced teachings" are not something special in themselves.

 

However, since beginners are still shallow in their practice, it has been observed since ancient times that they often make mistakes and misunderstandings, and there is a fear they might lose sight of the essence.

​

One cannot say whether the summit or the base of Mount Fuji is more sacred, yet people recognize it as Fuji by its majestic peak.

​

If the role of the transmitter is to guide those who truly seek the Way toward the summit, then using the Inner Transmission to point toward that peak is the ultimate expedient means.

 　

The Shoden”初伝” level is akin to compulsory education, the Chuden”中伝” to high school, the Okuden”奥伝” to university, and the Kaiden to graduate school.

However, since our school specializes in the thin tea ceremony using a brazier, the learning remains the same even when we speak of "Shoden,初伝" "Chuden,中伝" and "Okuden奥伝."

It is merely divided into three stages according to skill level (the degree of refinement).

 

The original philosophy of our school is that thick tea is undesirable. We center on thin tea preparation. That thin tea preparation is also primarily performed using a Furo”風呂” (open-air brazier).

 

This is because modern homes rarely have a built-in hearth.

Those who obtain certification have mastered the tea ceremony of our school in accordance with the above principles.
